Last November, the SOA was the beneficiary of a fund-raising event sponsored by numerous individuals and businesses in NE Ohio who are very interested in the growth and continued success of our association. As part of our appreciation package, we commissioned Spyderco to make an EDC folder with our logo and name etched into the blade (please see attached PDF). After exhausting our original batch of 75 knives, we ordered 55 more earmarked for our members. We currently have 12 left with the option to purchase more.
The MSRP is $132 plus $6 each for the engraving. We are making them available for sale to members only for $107, which includes USPS first class postage. Again, we are making them available to members only, however members can in turn purchase them in any quantity as gifts for family, friends and professional colleagues.
Orders and payments will go through SOA Treasurer Ray McBride. Please make checks payable to USSS-SOA and remit to Ray at P.O. Box 236, Oak Island, NC 28465. PayPal can be utilized with the following email…rmcbride@usss-soa.com. Please consider adding 3% to cover PayPal’s fee.
Respectfully,
The BOD

This American flag was flying atop World Trade Center Building 7 (WTC 7), the site of the New York Field Office, on September 11, 2001. Burning debris from the North Tower (WTC 1) damaged the flag before the massive building collapsed, destroying WTC 7 as it fell.
In the aftermath, Special Agents Shawn Bradstreet and Anthony Brancato reverently recovered the damaged flag on West Broadway between Barclay Street and Vesey Street. The flag received initial cleansing attention from Special Agent Bradstreet.
Subsequently, Deputy Special Agent in Charge Robert Weaver, cared for the flag until Bob personally presented it to the U.S. Secret Service Archives for long-term care and preservation. This flag is a testament to the character and strength of our nation, and to the men and women of the United States Secret Service who were present on September 11, 2001, as well as those who have since passed.

All:
Eventually we plan to post an SOA Membership Directory in the password protected area of our web site; but not now. We value privacy which is why we send most of our group emails via Bcc distribution. This “230 Strong” pdf will no doubt bring other SOA members to your attention, some of whom you may wish to contact. This has happened already where we subsequently linked the interested members.
Until we provide our members with the opportunity to opt in, or out, or provide partial contact information for a directory, please feel free to use the following email address if you care to contact a friend whose information you do not have. admin@usss-soa.com
Regards,
The BOD

Yes, challenge coins! The SOA has had our “First Anniversary Challenge Coin” produced. Please check out the photos and the technical specs here: Image 1, Image 2, Image 3. Three C/S on the roof, three ERT on the south grounds and three CAT deploying from their SUV.
This email is going out to all of our members. If you attended the Biennial Weekend in April you should have had five CC’s mailed to you as a value-added benefit. If you attended the BW and did not receive your five CC’s, then please reply to this email.
As for our other SOA members, the CC’s are now for sale at a modest price and ready to be mailed to you. You may order five for $30 (which includes USPS first class postage) by making your check payable to USSS-SOA and sending it to:
Ray McBride
P.O. Box 236
Oak Island, NC 28465
Or via Paypal at: rmcbride@usss-soa.com with a follow up email to Ray (rmcbride121@gmail.com).
Each coin comes in its own individual plastic sleeve surrounded by small protective bubble wrap. Biennial Weekend attendees who are interested in purchasing five additional CC’s are being offered the same five for $30 purchase option here. We have a sufficient quantity in stock to honor all member requests.
Regards,
The BOD

Welcome All New Members,
We are pleased and gratified that you have chosen to become a member of the U.S. Secret Service SOA! We began last week by emailing membership outreach messages to over 500 past and present operators and trainers from CS, CAT and ERT. We anticipate another 500 will be sent before the month is out.
The periodic updates that will be posted here will be varied in topic. They will all be designed to provide you with information about the SOA in general, our brief history plus current and future projects. We will have a Q&A section that will aim to provide the A’s to your Q’s. We will describe our Committee system and keep you abreast of opportunities to serve.
Today the SOA stands as a large, mostly blank canvas. But we have an enormous potential for the leaders and members to create the atmosphere and direction needed to develop a truly successful, professional organization that we can all be proud of.
Please note that the BOD section contains the email addresses for the Directors and the States in the seven regions they represent. There will be a lot of autonomy for each region to plan and develop their own events whether it’s a dining get together, golf outing, putting rounds down range or perhaps taking in a college or pro sports game.
If you haven’t checked out the Special Events section on the site, please do so next. We have a great venue reserved for our first Biennial Weekend next April in Cambridge, MD. We decided to have our large event every two years. In what we are calling the “off year” we plan to move away from the DC area to other parts of the country with potential trips being considered to Vegas, New Orleans (many have expressed a desire to visit the WWII museum there) the SE for golf and local flavor, plus a weekend in Bozeman, MT where members Mitch Price and John Orloff have offered up their land and hospitality to host a Yellowstone ranch style weekend.
Please come to this page for periodic updates. Address your Q’s to me at dholmes029@outlook.com. I will reply to all of them, or sometimes call if my answer has the potential to become Tolstoy length.
On behalf of the Board,
Dale Holmes
President, USSS-SOA
